Tick Season

Spring is here! It is time to enjoy walks in nature with your family and pets!  I have found a safe and fast way of removing ticks from you or your pets using essential oils.  Once you get home from your walk make sure to check yourself, your family and pets for ticks. If ever you do find some follow these simple instructions:

Apply a few drops of Purification essential oil onto a Qtip.

Expose and dab  the Tick with the Qtip until it safely backs out of the skin.

Pick up the tick with a kleenex and flush it down the toilet.

This may take a few seconds to several minutes.

Clean the tick bite with Purification Essential oil and you are good to go!

To buy Purification essential oil and find out how to save 24% on all your Essential oil orders read our essential oil ordering page: wholesale essential oils.

How To Redirect Unwanted Dog Behaviour

Owning a dog is an enjoyable experience, though at times there can be challenging moments along the way. Some of these challenging moments can be when you need to redirect a dogs behaviour. I first wrote this article for my own blog, though once I thought about it I knew many more dog owners like you would benefit from learning these simple techniques, and so I have passed this article on to this blog to help you learn how to redirect unwanted behaviours problems from your four legged friend.

If you do not know what redirecting a dogs behaviour is for or why it is done, hopefully you will enjoy this post. At times we have to redirect behaviours to get a better behaviour than the one that your dog may be performing at that moment.

Over time a dog may do individual behaviours as it learns it can gain attention from its owner like mouthing and nipping your body. Now if you were unable to offer any attention at that time to your dog when it mouths or nips you, and you try to keep it happy with a toy instead, your dog could then in fact learn that mouthing and nipping the owner brings the response of toys appearing to play with. This in then turn may cause an increase in the mouthing and nipping from the dog and any other unwanted behaviours that quicken the chance of bringing a toy out.

Now let’s look at this again. You are occupied and unable to give attention to your dog. Your dog then mouths or nips you for attention to get a reaction from you. Your response is then redirecting the dog to the toy, which makes sense but unfortunately this way is accidently reinforcing the dog that mouthing and nipping you brings toys!

To stop this through using simple dog training techniques,  redirect unwanted behaviours like this:

If you are busy and unable to give attention and your dog is showing unwanted behaviours to gain your attention, just ask for behaviour. The behaviour you will ask for is going to be incompatible with the one it is doing. So if you are being mouthed or nipped, ask for a sit and then a down. Once you get the behaviour you want, count to about 5 seconds and when your dog is calm and relaxed, then redirect to the toy.

Now from this the dog then learns that sitting calmly and lying calmly brings attention, or can bring about toys to play with, and that mouthing the owner does not bring any reward at all. A dog mouthing and nipping/biting can be unpleasant but is easy to resolve with this method, just be patient and calm to see the results.

It may take a few attempts to get the timing right with this dog redirection technique, but it can help create a calmer dog around you and it is well worth trying. There is other ways of solving the above problem, but this is a simple way without removing yourself from the room.

Looking Through Pet Rider Reviews?

As a traveling veterinarian, I sometimes have to carry sick animals in my back seat.  Unfortunately, that meant that I was cleaning my back seat on a regular basis, because you never know what’s going to come out of them when they don’t feel well. It got to the point where it was either clean out the back seat once a week, or take the Station Wagon to work. I’m sorry, but I like my new Volvo. So I decided to go online and buy the Pet Rider. After reading a bunch of Pet Rider reviews, it did not seem to be a bad idea and, depending on how it went, I decided I might write my own review to steer others away if it was a bad product.

What It Does

The Pet Rider is basically a strong, impermeable cloth that fits in your back seat. You use a small sling attachment and wrap it around the headrest to secure it, and it just sits like a cover. You don’t have to worry about mud, odor, accidents, or even hair ending up where you don’t want it. It all stays on the Pet Rider.

A Pet Rider Review: What Do I Think?

I own three dogs. I almost never have a month where I don’t have to load at least one of them into the backseat and take them to the pet store, vet, or God knows where else. I do love my babies very much, but sometimes I would get downright tired of the hair, odor, and mud from little paws in the backseat. It’s not their fault, but I did wish there were a better way. That’s when I decided to make a purchase and do this Pet Rider review.

The Pet Rider: Too Easy?

I am a professional dog walker, but I don’t necessarily have a way to walk to many of my clients’ downtown apartments. I use to have two cars. One was for personal use, and the other was for my business. I simply didn’t want the mess and hair in my personal car. The problem happened when my car blew a gasket, and I just didn’t have the money to fix it. What now? Well, I went and bought the Pet Rider for my business. Here is a little snippet of how it has been working out for me.
